Kinya Maruyama: Born in 1939, in Tokyo, Japan. Finished architectural degree at the Waseda University.Graduated from Basic Design course at the Kuwasawa Design School. Completed master’s degree in Architecture at the Waseda University in 1964. Worked at an architectural practice in Switzerland from 1964 until 1967. Founded his own architecutral practice, Atelier Mobile, in 1968. From 1969 to 2009, he was a part-time lecturer at the Waseda University and a guest professor at the Art and Architectural School of Waseda University. He holds lectures at many educational institutions including the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Texas, the University of Utah, the University of Washington, and the Kuwasawa Design School. Currently he is a part-time lecturer at the Tokyo University of Science and a lecturer at the University of Grenoble and the Nantes School of Architecture. He is a chairman of non-profit organisations Youkei Design. Now he is developing his workshops in many places including France, Uganda, and Morocco. His architectural projects include: the Nakijin Community Centre, the Nago City Hall (collaboration with Atelier Zoo, Design Prize of Architectural Institute of Japan), Mentally Handicapped Children’s Centre Akane-en, Hikari Nursery, Kazeno-ko Nursery, Honjyo Nursery, Nakadoma Inn at Onna Village, TAO reharsal hall, Taisetsu Nursery.
